Kainos Church is a Spirit-filled church with a heart for the TTU campus, those who feel they don’t fit, and anyone who’s never experienced the fulfillment that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.

what to expect when you visit

Come as you are. Expect a warm, hospitable, spirit-filled experience with sincere worship and message. We don’t have all of the bells and whistles but we love the Lord and we love each other.

Service is at 10:00 AM at Peachtree Learning Center on the corner of 4th and Walnut in Cookeville, behind the hospital.

OUR vision

Kainos Church is a Bible-based, multidimensional fellowship of believers. Multidimensional means that we are a multi-generational, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-economic church. We are committed to experiencing, explaining, and expanding God’s Diverse Kingdom in the city and throughout the world.

We are committed to helping people of all ages find their true identity, then teaching them to serve God passionately by loving and caring for people, and ultimately making positive change across the world.  (Colossians 1:9-14)

Finding identity---Serving God---Loving People---Changing the World

OUR mission

Our overarching mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ across the world and is based out of the Great Commission, which is found in Matthew 28:18-20.  Our philosophy for accomplishing this is by the pattern that Jesus set forth in Acts 1:8, that is, by the power of the Holy Spirit and by starting locally, regionally, nationally, and then worldwide.

Warm and caring and full of bright smiles and words of encouragement – this describes the husband and wife pastoral team at Kainos. They can be found counseling, serving, worshipping, and just being themselves as they sit back in their home and eat ice cream with you and their five awesome children. Their honesty and “real-ness” is refreshing.

Robert, affectionately known as Dr. Rob or Pastor Rob, and his wife Dana met at Tennessee Tech University and grew close to Jesus in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. It was during that time that Rob began to be prepared for his future work, co-founding the United Voices of Praise vocal group and preaching sporadically.

The couple also developed a heart for college and young adult ministry during this time. After moving to Murfreesboro for a time and consequently returning to Cookeville, they were active members of Church on the Hill for many years. During this time, Dr. Rob assisted with birthing several ministries, including a Sunday worship service on the campus of Tennessee Tech, and young adult groups Manna and The Well. The Owens are also parents to five wonderful children and Rob is part of the Student Affairs team at Tennessee Tech University.

After many years of pondering and praying about planting a church focusing on serving communities of young families and “non-traditional” church-goers, they finally decided to be “pushed out of the nest” to start Kainos Church at the beginning of 2015.
